About Me

I am a lifelong Washington State resident and I have lived in Snohomish County since 1975.

I have had the privilege of being a teacher from 1973-2009.  I taught Sales & Marketing and was the DECA Advisor at Marysville-Pilchuck High School from 1976-2009.  I also taught Principles of Marketing through Everett Community College.

I have been a licensed real estate broker since 1971.  I sold homes in the summers with American Properties from 1984-1993 and then with Professional Assistants Real Estate from 1994-2007.  I joined Fireside Homes in 2007 and was there until 2018.  I am currently with The Preview Group.

My wife, Katy, and I have been happily married since December 1977.  I am more madly in love today than I ever knew I could be.  We raised our three kids in Mukilteo. We very much enjoy the Pacific Northwest and all that it has to offer.  We hike, kayak, and snowshoe.  We also enjoy reading and writing, heck part of the time it rains here you know.

Katy and I enjoy the outdoors.  We both get a lot of satisfaction from walking and hiking.

Bryce Canyon National Park has some of the most unusual and stunning scenery we have seen.

I have been actively involved in community service projects for over three decades.  I am a proud recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Marysville Afternoon Rotary.  My students researched the Killed-In-Action veterans from Marysville and Tulalip going back to the 19th century.  In collaboration with Marysville Rotary we built and dedicated an extensive Veteran's Memorial in honor of them.  The final photo in the snow storm is my favorite.

My earliest memory that I can place in time is fishing with my dad when I was four years old; fishing is in my blood.  I fly fish avidly and release all my fish.  If a fish will take a fly I'm willing to try to catch it.  I have caught many species of trout, six species of salmon, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass.  I even caught a catfish on a fly.  Numerous other saltwater species have been kind enough to snap up my humble offerings.  My favorite species to fly fish for is carp.  Yes, carp.  They are big, strong, smart, and wary; in so many ways they are the world's greatest sport fish.  Fishing for carp is all sight fishing.  You are targeting individual fish; it is by far my favorite way to fish.

I served as the Fly Fishing Director on the National Board of Directors for the Carp Anglers Group.  I was the Fly Fishing Editor for North American Carp Angler magazine for a few years and I wrote a column called The Last Cast for each issue.

Sometimes fish will speak to me.  I answer about half the time.
